America is at the precipice of a complete transformation. The 2016 election is more important than any other election in our time. It’s more important than the 1980 election, it’s more important than the election of 1796, and this election will ultimately decide what kind of country we are going to hand off to our kids. I don’t follow politics because I enjoy it, I follow politics because I love my country. Ronald Reagan stated while campaigning for Barry Goldwater in the 1960s that it was, “a time for choosing in America.” America chose wrong in that election and awarded the liberal, Lyndon Johnson, a second term. I don’t need to explain the consequences of that election, but it shall be noted that if Goldwater had won in 1964 we wouldn’t have lost 60,000 heroes in Vietnam, and the “great society” wouldn’t be milking the U.S. taxpayer for every penny today.
As Americans we have been presented with a time for choosing once again. Are we going to allow a billionaire businessman who speaks out of both sides of his mouth to persuade us? Are we going to allow a career elitist who offers up hollow solutions to gain our vote? Or are we going to stand with a conservative that has fought like a lion for the things this country stands for? You see, Donald Trump, will stand on the stage and talk about building a wall and keeping all illegal immigrants out, but then he hires thousands of illegal immigrants at his swanky hotel restaurants because he claims he can’t find Americans to do that kind of work. Last time I checked, and I eat out pretty regularly, there are millions of Americans busting and waiting tables at restaurants all across the country. Donald Trump claims to be a Christian, but then he boasts on a debate stage just how great an organization like planned parenthood is. When was the last time you met a real Christian that stood up for an organization providing abortions? I understand why so many Americans like what Donald is saying. We’re angry, and Donald Trump understands that. He also understands that he can say all the things that will fire up angry Americans even if he has no plan to attack the problems that infuriate Americans. You see, Donald Trump likes to talk tough about democrats and Hillary Clinton, but the fact of the matter is he has been funding their positions his whole life. Imagine if Donald Trump were to win the republican nomination and face off against Hillary Clinton. Imagine Donald trying to debate Hillary and explain how the Clinton foundation is corrupt and full of cronyism. HIllary would simply turn to Donald and say, well geez Donald you donated thousands of dollars to the foundation. Donald Trump will then scream and yell about how Hillary Clinton is corrupt and a liar, and then she’ll turn to him again and say well golly Donald if you hate me so much why’d you invite me to your wedding?
We the people need to do our best in vetting the candidates we’re presented. Donald Trump has no voting record so he can boast that he’s never supported this cause, or that cause with no repercussions. However, if you do your due diligence as a voter and look at his past you will see that Donald Trump is as liberal as they come. Trump claims that he, just like Ronald Reagan, converted to conservatism. Unlike Donald Trump, Ronald Reagan converted to conservatism as a young man after seeing the failed liberal policies of FDR. Ronald Reagan converted to conservatism and despised communism way before he ever began a career in politics. Donald Trump was supporting liberal causes, and writing checks to liberals like it was his job, as recent as last year. You don’t simply spend 69 years of your life as a liberal, wake up on your 70th birthday and say, “hey, I’m a conservative.”
Donald Trump doesn’t stand for the blue collar working men and women of this country. Donald Trump has never had a blister on his hand his entire life. Donald Trump inherited over 200 million dollars and has been sticking it to the blue collar workers and patriots of this country ever since. Donald Trump claims he stands for veterans, but did everything in his power to dodge the Vietnam draft. In fact, Donald was a star intramural athlete in college, but somehow got a medical waiver to keep his name out of the draft. You can’t stand for veterans and be a coward at the same time. Donald Trump could release his past tax returns today, but refuses. Why does he refuse? Because it will reveal just how much he’s been donating to liberal causes the past ten years. Trump claims we’re going to win, win, win. But offers up no game plan for victory. Imagine a football coach taking over your favorite team and at the introductory press conference he answers every question with, “were going to win, win, win.” How are you going to develop the quarterbacks? “We’re going to win!” What is your offensive strategy going to be? “We’re going to win!” I’m sorry, but as football fans we would simply say thanks, but no thanks.
However, there is a clear path to victory against liberalism. Ted Cruz is the only candidate in the race that has continually stood for conservative values his entire life. Long before Ted was a politician he was the solicitor general for the state of Texas. As the solicitor general Ted fought for the 2nd amendment in the supreme court of the United States. Ted Cruz also fought for veterans rights and religious liberties as the solicitor general. Ted Cruz then went to the Senate and stood up against the Washington cartel time and time again. Ted Cruz in essence, shut the government down in his fight against OBamacare. Ted Cruz was the only one with the intestinal fortitude to stand up against Obamacare to the very end. Ted Cruz doesn’t just speak political rhetoric on the campaign trail, he offers up real, specific solutions. Politicians in Washington have labeled Ted Cruz extreme and too far right. These politicians said the same thing about Ronald Reagan when he was running for office. Ted Cruz may not have any endorsements from the Washington cartel, but he has endorsements from the patriots that matter. Recently, Marcus Luttrell, the lone survivor endorsed him along with Marine Corps medal of honor recipient Dakota Meyer. There’s a reason that the grassroots, tea party loyalists support Ted Cruz. He has consistently stood for the principles we believe in day by day. There’s a reason Ted Cruz is going to win his home state of Texas by double digits tomorrow, because he has supported the convictions of Texans since day one. Ted Cruz lives and breathes the constitution in a day and age where the constitution is abused by republicans and democrats alike.
As Americans we pray for the next Reagan. We don’t have to pray any longer, he has arrived. We must now have the courage to send him to the White House.
In the words of Reagan: The issue of this election, whether we believe in our capacity of self-government or whether we abandon the American revolution and confess that a little intellectual elite in a far distant capitol can plan our lives for us better than we plan them ourselves.
This is our last great hope. I don’t try to convince you on who to vote for, I simply ask you to do your duty as a statesman. Vet your candidates, lay your convictions on the line, and ask yourself which candidate will preserve the liberties and freedoms our fathers fought for. OUR REPULIC DEPNDS UPON IT!!!
